Bob Ballings has been active in the flooring industry since 1989, starting up printed logo mat production for a German mat manufacturer, selecting dye, yarn, rubber, teaching how to make artwork including limitations of the printing technique. He also initiated development of automatic mat border cutting machines. In 2008 he developed a low pile polyester carpet for inkjet printing and learned the inkjet process and its limitations for carpet. More recently he has been involved in improvement of Chromojet 800 to enable better and more consistent colours for carpet printing. His latest projects include printing floor vinyl using UV inkjet and offering a protection layer after printing.
